Application of cellular immunotherapy in autoimmune diseases
Autoimmune diseases (ADs) are a class of diseases that are caused by autoimmune tolerance disorder and the body's immune response to the autoimmune antigen, resulting in organism damage (Figure 1). Thus, ADs is essentially an immune imbalance and disorder, a series of diseases that occur due to the body's immune system mistakenly attacking its own components. ADs includes organ-specific ADs and systemic ADs. Organ-specific ADs refers to patients whose lesions are generally limited to a specific organ and are caused by autoimmune reactions to specific organs, mainly including Hashimoto thyroiditis, Graves' disease, myasthenia gravis, etc. Systemic ADs refers to the pathological damage of multiple organs and tissues in the whole body caused by immune response, mainly including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE),Sjogren's syndrome (SS), etc. [1].
